The parliamentary committee on rules and discipline has this morning started its investigation into matters surrounding the continu
ed absence of renegade General David Sejusa from Parliament.
The committee chaired by the West Budama MP Fox Odoi learnt for that General David Ssejusa cannot physically appear to defend his seat in parliament as he fears for his life.
A team of lawyers led by Joseph Luzige told the committee that General Ssejusa who is currently in the United Kingdom was preparing a document that will be submitted on Thursday to help in the committee’s work.
Luzige explains that the committee can also devise other means of interfacing with his client either by teleconferencing, skype or even meeting him outside the country since he is not secure in Uganda.
Meanwhile the state minister for Defence General Jeje Odongo shocked the committee on rules and discipline when he said that there is no organ in the military circles that has discussed matters of the missing National coordinator of Intelligence.
Although members including Busiro East MP Medard Ssegona, Bugweri County MP Abdul Katuntu and Simon Mulongo expressed concerns on how the UPDF and cabinet had not interested themselves in a matter of National security, the minister had no clear answers to their questions.
However the minister asked the committee to recommend that General Ssejusa’s seat is declared vacant as to pave way for new deployment by the UPDF
