The Inspector general of police Lt gen Kale Kayihura has assured the country that the force is doing all it can to stop violent crime in the city.

The assurance comes amidst growing fears among members of the public over the high number of armed robberies and murders by shooting.
Recently two top muslim clerics were gunned down in the city while another businessmen was killed in Mbarara.
Appearing before the defence and internal affairs committee Kayihura revealed that 15 top suspected thugs have already been arrested in an operation launched early this week.
He further reveals that the force is investigating links between the people involved in killing of the muslim clerics to ADF’s chief Jamil Mukulu.
