Foods that sabotages sleep

Whereas some foods like whole grain bread and carbohydrate-rich foods trigger insulin production which induces sleep, there are so many foods that also sabotages sleep.

 

They include smoked meat, bacon and sausages. Smoked meats contain high levels of amino acid tyramine which triggers the brain to release norepinephrine, a brain stimulant that makes one feel alert.
Spicy foods; tomato sauce, chili, and pizza are acidic. Spicy foods can cause reflux, heartburn and other symptoms that interrupt sleep.
Alcohol; a glass or two of wine may make you feel more relaxed after super, but it comes back to haunt you a few hours later, by preventing you from achieving deep sleep.
Energy drinks are high in caffeine as well as the amino acid taurine, which boosts alertness and adrenaline.
Chocolate: chocolate contains tyrosine, a stimulating amino acid, which prevents the brain from relaxing.
