It now seems the UPDF procurement has been streamlined. Gone are the days when the Ugandan army could buy junk helicopters, fighter jets and battle tanks among others.

The latest we have heard from Uganda army circles is the procurement of the best army equipment including brand new fighter jets from Russia.

Other army equipment Uganda has bought are the SU-30s, new Battle Tanks (MBTs), modern air-defence equipment and APCs all Chinese and Russian made.

Cases of buying junk army equipment have not been heard of for the last 10 years or more, praise to president Museveni’s strict discipline on the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF).
