Public Accounts Committee has given 48 hours to Uganda Land Commission to produce the details of the directors of Kingdom holding limited which is said to be the owners of 15 hectares the land which ounce accommodated Shimon primary School six years ago.
The Commission which was appearing before Public Accounts Committee to respond to Auditor General’s queries of 2010/11 was tasked to name the Directors of Kingdom Holding but could not remember even one person.
According to Ntungamo Municipality MP Yoona Musigunzi a member of the Committee said the Commission did not follow the proper guidelines in awarding a lease to kingdom Holdings and therefore those claiming to be the landlords are keeping air.
He said Uganda land Commission in 2007 gave a lease of Five years to Kingdom Hotel Investments to construct a five star hotel for CHOGM which did not take off and the committee was surprised to hear that the land in question is in the names of Kingdom holding Limited which is totally a different Company.
Government in 2007 gave out Shimon Demonstration School Land which used to accommodate over 3000 pupils and the school was relocated to East Kololo but up to now the Hotel has never been constructed on land in question.
