Four Health facilities have each received donation of a cervical cancer screening machine to them carry tests for the disease that is said to be treatable upon early detection.
Health statistics indicate that nearly 2500 women die of cervical cancer in the country every year. The donation worth 52m has been provided by PACE, a local NGO dealing in reproductive health.
The testing equipment has been given to St. Josephs Clinic along Gayaza Road, St. Martin Bukunda in Rakai District, Joy Medical center in Ndeeba and Mukono Health center 4.
Ndagire Barbra is the Quality Assurance Coordinator for PACE in central region.
Meanwhile, the Ass Commissioner Reproductive Health at Ministry of Health Twiswingire Collins urges the beneficiaries to effectively use the machines to ensure the intended goal is attained.
