His Royal majesty the king (Kabaka) of Buganda’s subject from Makindye yesterday paid a courtesy visit to Mengo, the seat of the BugandaKingdom, headed by Walakira Nyanzi, the speaker of Makindye and Gerald Lumbuye, the area LCIII chairman.
The politicians from Makindye met the Katikiro of Buganda, Peter Mayiga who was represented by his 1st Katikkiro Emmanuel Sendawula. Katikkiro Sendawula thanked the politicians on behalf of the Kabaka for supporting the kingdom annually.
The Uganda local council politicians (majority of them subscribe to Democratic Party) contributed 13 million shillings to run the kingdom activities and contributed six million Uganda shillings towards the kingdom’s treasury and five millions Uganda shillings towards the masiro reconstruction project.
Katikkiro Sendawula also told the politicians that Ugandans in USA and England recently sent 250 million shillings to the Kabaka’s administration. He further urged the people of Buganda and Uganda to cooperate with Buganda government and the central government. The Katikkiro also thanked president Museveni for accepting the Kabaka to travel across his kingdom at wish. Originally the Kabaka would be stopped by the government to step in some areas like Bululi and Bugerere counties.
