Ugandan locals urged to use energy efficient stoves and solar lighters to save the environment

In abid to save the country from facing adverse climate change effects caused by green gas emissions produced by man, Environmental management for livelihood improvement (EMLI) in partnership with Global Environment facility(GEF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the small grants programmee are helping0 local in the districts of Buikwe, Luwero and Kampala to develop and start using energy efficient stoves and solar lighters to save the environment.

According to the head of the climate change unit in the ministry of water and environment, Chebet Maikut says that goverment has laid down a number of climate change mitigation strategies to counter climate change that has continued to manifest in the country over the years now.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting in Kampala, the deputy director, EMLI, Robert Bakika says the two years programmee will see a selected groups in the districts mentioned to receive training on how to make energy efficient stove to use with the intentions of saving trees in the districts.
