Forget your safe periods, if you follow correctly these steps, you will get pregnant only when you wish it so. From the first day you see the blood of your period, .pick up a calendar and count 15 days including the first day of the blood stain.
Mark the 15th day with a pen, mark 3 days before the 15th day, mark 3 days after the 15th day and you will notice you have 7 days marked.
These 7 days are your ovulation or fertile days also known as unsafe period. This means that if you have sex on any of these days, then you have 98% chances of being pregnant. Also do this every month and try and abide by these rules. The safe period refers to the window period where a woman is less likely to become pregnant if she plays unprotected sex. These safe period falls between day 1-7 of the period and Day 19 to the start of the next cycle.
The normal woman’s menstrual cycle is supposed to last 28 days. Of these only days 8 -19 are considered fertile i.e. a woman is likely to have a baby through unprotected intercourse. All other days are safe.
The menstrual cycle is considered to begin with the first day of bleeding and ends when the bleeding starts again.
However opting to have sex during the ‘safe period’ is not fool-proof of not getting pregnant. A number of women have irregular cycles. The cycle period may vary from women to women. Therefore the ‘safe period’ is not that safe. It is better to use condoms/ contraceptive methods to prevent unwanted pregnancies
