It all started on October 9th 2013 when former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago went to western Uganda to celebrate Independence Day anniversary with president Museveni. So many guests were there.
According to the ruling National Resistance Movement ace, Ofwono Opondo, Besigye was to get a medal from president Museveni. However, when Besigye and Lukwago realised that the development had not pleased the people in Kampala, they decided to walk away from the function. The two opposition leaders even reportedly used some newspapers to write that they were arrested when they walked away. But there was no photographic evidence that Besigye and Lukwago were ever arrested for having walked away from Museveni’s site.
It is also worth remembering that two days to Uganda’s 51st independence, Museveni while inaugurating Wandegeya market, told Ugandans that Lukwago and Besigye must apologise to him for abusing him.
The former vice chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Venancious Baryamureeba after Besigye walked away from independence anniversary went straight for Besigye’s neck describing him as disrespectful to Museveni.
As the country is still wondering about Besigye’s total motive of attending a function, with Museveni, whom he has always described as a mole and a sadist, another public figure Frank Gashumba last week paid a night visit to the home of president Museveni in Rwakitura.
Two days after this visit, Gashumba went to NBS TV to claim that Besigye and Lukwago were seeking employment with Museveni’s government. What is going on? We don’t know whether it is true or Gashumba is turning Besigye into a punching bag!
