How Uganda monitors phones of politicians and business tycoons

Uganda’s security agencies of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and Criminal Intelligence Directorate (CID) monitors over 7 million phones of business people, opposition politicians, police officers, army officers and those of directors of Non Governmental Organisations every month.

The latest allegations come from documents that CMI and CID provided to president Museveni last month that indicated that they monitored the entire calls former FDC president, Col. Kiiza Besigye, Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago and Mugisha Muntu made in September.

The reports, which a very senior spy in Kampala government, showed to one of our field staff, indicated that the CIM monitored calls, locations of the callers, the contents in the calls and the locations of the receivers. The CMI further monitored the calls the receivers received there after.

The source in intelligence department in Kampala government further alleges that Uganda is closely monitoring all the people it suspects they could be used by the Al Shabaab terrorists to bomb Kampala.
