Also proximity of the sinuses to the orbit (read the bony cavity in the skull containing eyeball) often leads to spread of bacterial infection, hence eye infections.

Some of the Para nasal sinuses are in close proximity to brain. Bacterial invasion into the brain may occur resulting into mengitis, brain abscesses, comma, convulsions and even death.
