As the country prepares to carry out the national population census come 2014, the finance minister in charge of planning, Hon. Matia Kasaija confirms that govt will spend UGX.4450 per person during the population census across the country with the exercise going to cost govt a sum of UGX.75 Bn.
Speaking to journalists where govt unveiled the new plan for the coming exercise, the minister confirmed that so far UGX.50Bn has been set aside for the exercise with the remaining UGX.25BN set to be channeled any time soon.Cue.Kasaija.
Meanwhile, the executive director, UBOS, Ben Paul Mungyereza explains that for a country to develop and have proper planning, has to have up to date data of all things which now compels Uganda to hold the population and housing census next year.
He also notes that 18th November, Uganda will join the rest of the world to mark the global day of statistics.
