Six candidates out of the nine who participated in the NRM bye election primaries in Bukanga county say they will not participate in the re run of the primaries due this Friday because they believe the process is not transparent.
Yesterday the NRM electoral commission announced that it will conduct a rerun of the primaries following investigations that the first one was marred with malpractices.
Addressing journalists at security house this afternoon, the six candidates led by former Bukanga mp Nathan Byanyima said that they disagree with the rerun because the NRM electoral commission not only disregarded the five petitions filed by various candidates but they were not also consulted nor given a hearing during the purported investigations by Al Haji Moses Kigongo.
The chairman of the NRM party President Yoweri Museveni ordered for investigations after one candidate Stephen kangwagye petitioned the president complaining of the results of the primaries.
Byanyima says they render the investigations flawed and erroneous.
He says that NRM party electoral commission is favouring Stephen kangwagye because he comes from first family.
Other candidates who will not participate in the NRM primaries include Tuhairwe Aaron,MatsikoBenon, Abahaire David,Mubiru John Bosco, and Muhanguzi Honorato.
The NRM electoral commission had declared Nathan Byanyima as NRM bearer with25,435 and stephen kangwagye got 24,909 votes.
