Encourage hand washing: hand washing goes along way in preventing common infections like diarrhea and flu.
Parents therefore need to encourage their children to wash their hands with soap and running water before a meal and after using the toilet.
Frequent washing of hands removes germs that the children could have picked from other people or contaminated surfaces.
When the children don’t wash their hands frequently, they can pass on germs causing infection to themselves when they touch their eyes, nose or mouth.
While as they wash their hands, let them engage in vigorous hand rubbing for at least 2 to 3 minutes to enable them pick out the dirt from their nails.
