The parliamentary committee on commissions, statutory authorities and state enterprises has called for internal restructuring of Uganda Development Bank to get rid of the bank of none performing officials.
The report read to the house by chairperson of the committee Patrick Amuriat Oboi recommend that the new board be constituted to do the restructuring.
The committee observed that the bank has not been run in accordance with sound and prudent business principles and practices due to close interference by bank of Uganda and Ministry of finance which in turn rained the independence and professional running of UDBL.
The committee further recommends that the bank’s management be allowed to run the bank professionally if it’s to achieve the objectives of which it was created.
Mps also asked the East African Bank to increase agriculture funding to cater for the big number of people practicing it.
The committee has been tabling the performance report on the Uganda development bank from 2001to 2010.
