It is amazing but true. The government of Uganda spends only 50 Uganda shillings daily on every Universal Primary Education (UPE) pupil. The same government spends only 5,300 Uganda Shillings on each UPE child per year.
When we compare the money the government spends on each UPE child with the how much rich people in Uganda spends on their children in private schools in Uganda, you don’t fail to rubbish Uganda government’s commitment to provision of quality education.
Nursery pupils in good private schools and kindergartens pay over 750,000 shillings per term …meaning that with that sum each parent is capable of paying fees for 15000 UPE pupils.
But the UPE pupil who pays 50 shillings per term is told that he is the ”FUTURE Leader of Uganda.” Could we belief that this is mockery! The UPE pupils who receive poor quality education in Uganda can not be compared to pupils in good private schools. The primary pupils in good private primary schools can articulate issues affecting their communities in both English and their mother languages like Luganda, Runyakitara, Luo, Swahili, Lusoga…The poor UPE education may destroy a full generation.
Many education experts are not supporting the way how the government is funding UPE program. And the teacher who teaches those “UPE pupils” after going hungry for a good number of days earns only 200,000 per month…. OH UGANDA MAY GOD UPHOLD THEE…..
