Human Rights committee gears up for Human rights check list

The chair person on the committee of human rights Jovah Kamateka has revealed that her committee has produced a check list for human rights compliance which is aimed for anyone who wants to make plan or bill on rights of people that is to come to parliament.
According to Kamateka, this is first of its kind in the history of Ugandan parliament, which will help the country achieve a lot in making Uganda, human rights compliant and make its people enjoy life to the fullest.
She says the check list will assist government bodies to ensure that all activities and polices March with the issues of peoples rights.
She says the committee is planning to start sanitization of people especially key stakeholders in this check list and take them through what it’s all about and see how it can quickly be used so as main stream peoples rights .
In the same development Kamateka asked government to increase funding to Uganda human rights commission to enable it carry civic education to the rest of the country, so that people can know about their rights and their responsibilities.
She says government does not put enough cash on civil education yet its very important for citizens get to know about their rights.
