Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has seized three pistol crossbows and over 400 bolts (ammunition) that was being smuggled into the country reportedly by suspected Al Shabaab elements operating in president Museveni’s government.
The guns were found concealed in one of the containers of agriculture and fishing equipment that was imported by Global Paper Limited.
Global Paper Limited deals in manufacturing and supply of mining, utilities, paper, agriculture and fishing equipment according to URA commissioner, Hellen Kagina. Kagina says that the container was from China.
The police sources suspect that the importers of the guns had a sinister plot. The destination of the guns is still unclear. The security sources told us that Global Paper had all along been suspected to have a connection with wrong elements.
