Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has intercepted a 20ft container that belongs to Global Paper Factory Ltd that has been found with three brand new restricted guns used in hunting together with 400 arrows.
The commissioner Enforcement at URA James Kisaale says the container had largely carried ceramics including tiles, fridges and other hardware items but had a special sealed box that had these restricted items that are mainly used for hunting elephants.
He says the Authority has already handed over Andreas Yung, a Chinese National and also the manger to Global Paper Factory Ltd to police to investigate how the restricted items came into the country.
He adds that with the rampant cases of ivory that has been confiscated by the authority, this is an indication that these guns would be aimed at killing the elephants as well as humans
