When the people of Uganda learnt the out comes of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Tribunal Reports they could not fail to wonder where they were politically heading. We listened to most of the radio stations…many Ugandans were vowing to come out and say NO to Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s dismissal.
Some years ago, a Mukiga was elected as District Chairman in Bunyoro but president Museveni went and removed him from his seat.
When the president of Uganda disagreed with the president of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete, Tanzania is now being isolated from the East African Community (EAC). Currently President Museveni and Kagame Paul of Rwanda have put in place ‘A Coalition of The Willing’’ EAC.
Let us agree that the Lord Mayor is wrong, should his Vote of No confidence originate from State House? Just yesterday, the Parliamentary Committee on Government Assurance listed the unfulfilled Pledges of president Museveni since 1986! Media houses report on daily basis stories of stolen public funds. Have Ugandans asked the president to impeach him?…
The president tells us that having Directors managing Kampala will put things right. But today we still see buildings being built with out parking. Corruption still stinks at KCCA. There is also a proposal to delete the section that allows the city residents to elect their Lord Mayor and Councilors.
When president Museveni was deviating from the 1962 and 1967 Constitution that did not have a directly elected President, he told us that it was against democracy and that power belongs to the people. Where has this power gone in the case of Erias Lukwago?
If you allow the rural illiterate and backward people to elect their leaders, how do you stop the city dwellers from electing their own! This just can not add up.
Whose program does KCCA director Janifer Musisi implement?…because the people of Kampala voted Lukwago’s programs. On top of that they brought a rural boy from Kamwenge, Frank Tumwebaze to become Minister of Kampala! The minister is currently proposing a new Board of Kampala Directors. However the latest we get from opposition camp is that they are planning one of the toughest demonstration in Kampala over Lukwago’s removal from office.
