A certain aircraft company from U.S.A recently submitted a proposal to the government of Uganda proposing to give us (Ugandans) airplanes at low costs to operate a national airline.
But according to sources in Uganda government, the minister of Uganda for works and transport Haji Ibrahim Byandala reportedly said that ”Uganda doesn’t need national airline at the moment”
The sources quote the Minister as saying ”Uganda sees no reason to own an independent airline at the moment, instead, an independent investor should come and operate a private airline in Uganda and the government is willing to give him a flag.”
Unfortunately, the minister did not consult Ugandans to understand whether they want their country to own an aircraft or not.
