Over 700,000 people are projected to get infected with HIV in 5 year’s time if the current trends in the fight against the vice is not improved.
The the recent findings of the national HIV indicator survey state that the number of new infections has been rising since 2009.
The Director General, Uganda AIDS Commission, Dr. Kihumuro Apuli says that in order to avert the increasing rate of HIV, elimination of mother to child tranmsission should be emphasised by mothers undergoing testing in order to protect the unborn babies.
Kihumuro further emphasises the need for the youth, couples and individuals to know their status by testing. He laments that only 54 percent of men know their status.
