The doctors in USA have discovered that some cases of erectile dysfunction is linked to having diabetes. The recent research indicates that about 60%-70% of people living with diabetes have a form of neuropathy, a leading cause of erectile dysfunction.
Neuropathy, according to Dr. Samuel Yu of Mulago Hospital is a collection of disorders that occurs when nerves of the peripheral nerves system (the part of nerves system outside the brain and spinal cord) are damaged.
Diabetes on the other hand is a condition of elevated blood sugar that is caused by poor production or lack of insulin, a hormone secreted by the pancreas. It is also commonly tied with obesity, high blood pressure and cholesterol-all contributors to erectile dysfunction.
