vMakerere University Business school (MUBS ) told the public accounts committee that the Uganda land commission caused the university to lose its prime land of 13 acres in Bugolobi.
The vice chancellor Makerere Business School Waswa Balunywa while appearing before the committee chaired by Paul Mwiru to answer Auditor General queries and explain circumstances in which the university lost the land.
Balunywa claim before the committee that he did push hard for the university to retain the land since there were unidentified people who were threatening his life.
Balunya said that after court battle with one of the people who illegally occupied the land, the Uganda land commission wrote to the university advising them to accept those who occupied the land to take it and allocated them another land in kireka.
However, MPS discovered that the land in kireka had squatters who needed compensation to vacate and part of the land was in wetland.
The committee promised to summon the Uganda land commission to explain under what circumstance MUBS land was given to other group of people.
MPS who include Yokasi Bihanda Joseph sewungu Eddie Kwizera also demanded Makerere University Business school to avail the committee with a list of students benefiting from state house scholarship and how much the pay and what is due for pay
