Jiggers disturb Busoaga mps

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has written to a city ARV manufacturing company-Quality Chemicals seeking for specialized chemicals to deal with jiggers and bed bugs in Busoga.
Speaking to Journalists at parliament, Bunya east Member of Parliament Waira Magyegere said that Kadaga who is also the chairperson of Busoga parliamentary group first penned a letter to a similar company called Kiboko company seeking for the same chemicals but the company stated that such drug was not available.

Waira’s revelation comes after reports that these parasites have once again ravaged most areas in Busoga that some people have started dying of them.

He says that MPs want detergents like jik, jelly; safety pins among others to fight jiggers which he says have so far claimed some people’s lives.

Waira adds that the MPs have heard there is a plan to spent shs1bn by health ministry to deal with the parasites, but this development has since attracted criticism by Youth MP eastern Peter Ogwang who says it will be a waste of funds to allocate money for jiggers.

He says such funds should be put in hospitals or construction of teachers’ houses and blamed the people of Busoga for not maintaining proper hygiene and laziness which he says are the root cause for these parasites.
