Museveni denies influencing media reshuffle

President Museveni has denied influencing media reshuffle on radios and television. This follows media reports that Museveni ordered the management of Radio Akaboozi and TOP raadio to fire their journalists: Simon Kaggwa Njala, Basajja Mivule, PK Bossa and Richard Kasule aka ‘Kamagu.’

Addressing members of the NRM caucus in Parliament, Museveni said that he could not influence the dismissal of journalists in an organisation that is not owned by the state. Top Radio and Radio Akaboozi are privately owned.

The media houses in Kampala all along have been alleging that journalists in Uganda are victims of President Museveni’s dictatorship.

That the media fraternity is suffering from Museveni’s brutality in Uganda. It is alleged that Njala, Kamagu, PK Bossa, and Basajja Mivule were dismissed because they constantly highlighted the issues of Human Rights Abuses in Uganda.
