Uganda not ready to evacuate her citizens under siege in South Sudan

Are you still wondering if the government of Uganda has any plans to evacuate Ugandans under siege as a result of the Juba-South Sudan political unrest? Since December 15th, 2013 all shopping malls, shops and food stores in Juba are closed and no one in South Sudan is allowed to get outside their rooms.

Many Ugandans are afraid that if president Museveni’s government doesn’t do something a number of Ugandans unser siege in South Sudan will end up starving to death in the next couple of days!

But the ministry of foreign affairs in Kampala has announced that it is upon Ugandans in Juba to seek for mechanism of returning back to Uganda. A senior official in Uganda government told us in Kampala today that Museveni’s government did not budget for evacuation of Ugandans in South Sudan.

At least over 90 people, including Ugandans, have been killed in the ongoing fighting that followed an attempted coup in South Sudan’s capital, Juba, as random shooting persists.
