The leader of Opposition in parliament Nathan Nandala Mafabi says there are several government indicators that corruption in the country is now institutionalized.
While giving his end of year address to MPs and the public at parliament, Mafabi said the corruption tendencies are now used officially to fuel the NRM regime patronage in order to keep power at the expense of social service delivery.
According to the opposition leader, although the president announced a policy of zero-tolerance to corruption in 2006, government has promoted corruption through intolerance of Anti-corruption Activists.
He however vowed to rally support against corruption saying unless it is fought, innocent Ugandans will continue in poor service delivery due to the continued theft of public resources by the few.
Nandala Mafabi also asked Ugandans to jointly play a role in saving the country from what he describes as high unemployment levels.
According to him, youth unemployment in Uganda now stands at over 83%.
Speaking to journalists at parliament, Mafabi said the rate at which unemployment stands is not only a security risk, but also causing massive poverty the country.
Mafabi says unless Ugandans act proactively to save the country from what he also describes as a time bomb, Ugandan children and grandchildren will continue to suffer unemployment amidst plenty.
