The Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has vowed to move back to his city hall office next week with the High court order as his only weapon and shield.
After being frustrated by the authorities twice this week to convene a consultative meeting over the administration of Kampala City, Lukwago has decided to mobilize the people of Kampala to organize a procession that will see him get back to his office at the city hall.
Lukwago said all his supporters to take part in the procession starting from his resident in Wakaliga will be armed with copies of a Court Order issued by High Court Judge Yasin Nyanzi as their only weapon and shield to counter the actions of the police force.
The court orders to be carried that day may seem to be mere pieces of paper as compared to the guns and trucks of teargas, but the people won’t relent on the fight to uphold the rule of law.
The Court order issued by the 28th of November last year, declared all the activities that accumulated into the impeachment of the Lord Mayor as null and void.
Lukwago explains based on the Court Order served to the Attorney General, the Inspector General of Police and all the other agents of the Attorney General are expected to comply with the directives of the courts of law.
Meanwhile Lukwago appealed to all other relevant institutions and body to intervene into the matter in order to protect and uphold the constitution of Uganda that gives powers to courts of law and the entire judiciary.
He challenged Parliament, the Judiciary and the Human Rights bodies not to sit back as they watch the continued bleach of the supreme law.
