Undergraduates are offered opportunity to get music scholarship at university of Leicester.

Leicester University is offering music scholarships in the form of free tuition on any instrument, or voice, to first year undergraduates of any department beginning courses in September.

Successful students will be expected to attend orchestral or choral rehearsals and to take part in concerts.

Music flourishes at the University in the form of two orchestras and choirs, as well as a wind band, big band and a Gospel choir, which are run by student committees in partnership with the Director of Music.

Recent works that have been performed include Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Ode to St Cecilia, and Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. Student societies also combined to present an evening entitled ‘A Night at the Opera’.

There are regular lunchtime and evening concerts featuring national and international artists, as well as events in which students can take part.

Auditions will be held in March and students should have reached the equivalent of the Associated Board Grade VIII.
