The Ministry of Education and Sports this afternoon released last year’s results for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and Ordinary Level examinations.
Over 170,000 candidates sat PLE last year while 96,000 candidates sat O-Level exams.
The number of candidates who sat O-Level reduced by two per cent last year, compared to 2012… The exams were released at the Rwanda Education Board offices in Remera, Kigali.
The Rwandan Minister for Education, Vincent Biruta links the decrease to reduced birth rate over the last couple of years. The best performing districts in PLE and O-level was Rusizi and Kayonza while the best perfoming schools in PLE was BurorePrimary School and LifeAcademy.
There was a decrease in the number of students who missed examinations compared to the year 2012.
Minister Vincent Biruta says examination malpractices were minimal in 2013 due to tougher measures adopted by Rwanda Examination Board.
