The permanent secretary of the ministry of water and Environment David Obongo has demanded parliament for allocation of funds to purchase a weather radar equipment to solve on the problems of giving inaccurate weather daily predictions .
Appearing before the Public accounts committee David Obongo said that absence of a weather radar should not be blamed on the ministry because it had pressed it during chogn but it was not purchased.
The cost of the radar equipment is estimated at 200 million dollars
The commissioner Assistant commissioner Lukiya Tazalika said that parliament should take the purchase of the weather radar as a priority, weather department meteorological funding and staff recruiting.
She revealed that the most accurate meteorological department prediction people should believe more are always in the season of September to December with accuracy of 80%.
She said that the challenging season for weather prediction is in the season of March to May because the conditions that influence the weather determination are different since Uganda is in tropics and the accuracy is at 70%.
