The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation will grant the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany, in recognition of the outstanding academic achievements of exceptionally promising junior researchers from abroad.
Winners of the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award will be granted funding totaling up to 1.65 million EUR to conduct the approved research project over a period of five years commencing immediately after receiving the award.
The award money will be allocated in installments.
The first installment may be drawn as soon as the award winner has accepted the award and submitted the complete acceptance documents.
Virtually unaffected by administrative constraints, the award winners are able to concentrate on high-level, innovative research work of their own choice in Germany and thus strengthen the internationalization of research in Germany.
The award money allows the winners to finance their own working group at a university or non-university research establishment of their own choice in Germany and also covers their living expenses.
Application deadline: July 31.
