Some NRM MPs threatens to resign if the Former Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana is exonerated from the OPM Scandals where Billions of shillings were lost.
MPs want former Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana held accountable over last year’s OPM Scam in which billions of shillings were embezzled by officials in the ministry.
The Public Accounts Committee report into the allegations of Corruption in the Office of the Prime Minister implicated the former permanent secretary, Pius Bigirimana and Keith Muhakanizi, the secretary to the treasury and other officials from the same office and Bank of Uganda.
The report tabled before parliament pins Bigirimana and other officials in the OPM for among other things diversion of funds, negligence of duty and spending money outside the budget frame work.
The committee Formerly Chaired by Terego County MP Ezati Kasiano Wadri observed that the actions of the officials cost government billions of shillings and wants them held accountable.
Ntungamo Municipality MP Yona Musinguzi Said that MPs made this report without biasness and did not base their report on political party affiliation, it was partial that Bigirimana and other Implicated officials should resign.
He said that if president Museveni is demoralizing NRM MPs sitting on PAC committee by defending the corrupt officials; he adds that president Museveni is rendering the efforts of MPs ineffective.
