The Governor bank of Uganda Emmanuel Mutebire decries the poor
economic system the country is facing due to poor infrastructure and
unending bureaucracy one goes through before starting up a business.
This I relation to the World bank business indicators dubbed Africa
competitiveness report 2013 that ranked Uganda Number 132 out of the
189 countries which implied a fall of six places from 126 position it
was in the previous years
Speaking at the symposium to honor and celebrate the life of the late
Industrialist and business tycoon James Mulwana at UMA grounds,
Mutebire highlights the unstable electricity, corruption, many
criteria one goes through to be permitted to do big business as some
of the problematic factors that have continued to see Uganda do badly
in business.
He calls upon government to rectify such impediments if the business
sector is to be helped to grow.
For his part, the Chairman Uganda manufacturers Association Amos Nzei
appealed to government to focus more on provision of sustainable power
to manufactures, as this is the only way to pave way for more tax
collections since the cost of production will be very low and many
products will be out in the market for supplies.
Several manufacturers, entrepreneurs and business partners have
described the late Mulwana as a business icon that the country will
take long to get back for his innovative business ideas that have seen
the country’s economy grow.
