Funded Training on Human Resource Development.

The International Leadership Training (ILT) programme of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) provides training and qualifications for technical and management staff from companies and institutions in developing countries and countries undergoing transformation, so that they can then initiate and manage processes of change within their own countries.

During their advanced training in Germany, International Leadership Training (ILT) participants spend a year consolidating their technical know-how, along with their management skills and their capacity to implement change.

Towards this end, they enter into dialogues with professional institutions and companies.

It goes without saying that International Leadership Training (ILT) includes language courses up to level B2 to make sure that all of the participants have a sound knowledge of German, to allow them to master the complex requirements of their advanced training.

It currently offers International Leadership Training in more than 20 sectors, with programmes designed for specific countries, training around 400 people a year.

Partner organisations abroad put forward applicants for International Leadership Training (ILT) and work out an agreement with the participants on a project to be undertaken once they have returned from training.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) offers consultancy services during the phase of implementation of these projects.

Most of the recipients of scholarships selected by GIZ already have an academic education and two years of professional experience behind them.

The core of the ILT activity in Germany is the four-month practical training phase within a company. This is where programme participants can apply and consolidate their newly-gained knowledge and develop professional contacts.

Scholarship

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) bears the costs related to the assessment workshop (international travel costs, food and accommodation) and German language course in Africa.

It does not cover the costs for travelling within the home country.

It will grant the selected and invited participants a scholarship for the 12 months of the training in Germany.

This scholarship covers course fees and materials, food and accommodation, a per diem allowance and course-related travel expenses.

Travel expenses to and from Germany are supposed to be met by the sending organisations as a contribution towards the advanced training. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
