The ministry for public service has directed all accounting officers across the country to submit their payrolls to the ministry by tomorrow.
According to state minister for public service Sezi Mbaguta, warned that those who will fail to submit their payrolls shall wait until April next month.
Appearing before the public service and local government committee chaired by Freedom Kwinycwiny (Zombo woman), Mbaguta says a recent scrutiny of the government payroll indicated that over 23000 employees hadn’t been paid since January, but that this number has now reduced to about 4490.
The minister says these arrears were as a result of failure by accounting officers to submit their payrolls and also failure to keep track of the payroll to identify those who have died, those promoted and those who work.
She says the ministry wants to pay all these salaries and the arrears, adding that the ministry wants payrolls submitted in time so that all government workers can be paid by 28th.
