Manufacturers appeal to Buganda to give them land

Ugandan manufacturers have appealed to the BugandaKingdom to give them more land to accommodate the increasing number of manufacturers in the country to respond to the growth in Uganda’s industrial sector that stands at 25%.

The manufacturers have said that the industry in Uganda is growing faster than anticipated. Amos Nzeyi, one of the leading manufacturers in Uganda says they are seeing demand for commodities around the East African region. He says Ugandan manufactures are already exporting in foreign countries so they have to manufacture more and yet the land they need to do the job is not enough.

The Katikiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, in response has said that the land housing Kigo Prisons is appropriate for industrial development, adding that the same piece of land has generated interest from many people, including real estate developers. Mayiga says Buganda has enough land for investors and manufacturers in Kigo.
