Museveni denied chance to address East African forum

The East African Community business forum will be held in September 2014 in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala.

Mary Makoffu, the East African community Director for Social Sectors confirmed the development and said that the forum brings together private sector actors and civil society groups in the East African region.

Makoffu says that the objective of the Forum is to allow selected stakeholders and the East African Community to consult and work towards realising the East African Community’s objectives and goals.

The forum will run under the theme “East Africa: My Home, My Business.” The various groups interested in paving the business routes within the region would interface with the East African Secretariat to unmask the opportunities available within the East African Countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi and come up with mechanisms on how to explore opportunities. However Tanzanians have suggested that President Museveni should not be allowed to address the forum because his country has no presidential term limits. Uganda is the only country in East Africa without presidential term limits.
