The executive director Uganda consumer protection association, Sam Watasa has revealed before the first telecom consumer parliament that Ugandan telecom users lose upto USD.500M a year in dropped calls, un scrupulous withdrawn airtime, charges from unanimous massages among other charges.
Watasa while petitioning the ICT minister, Nyombi Tembo and UCC today, the consumer pinned the service providers for neglecting their responsibilities they have with consumers which has created a poor relationship between the two parties.
But officials from telecom companies were quick to distance the report saying though call drop rates are existing but they don’t lead to such alarming losses and maintain that they are working hard to rectify the probems.Cue.Companies.Eng.
However, the ICT minister welcomed the petition and promised to work on it together with the UCC boss.
