Uganda Police has set up a cybercrime unit in order to crackdown on abusers of the internet. But human rights activists have put it that the move is intended to limit the freedom of expression in Uganda.

Uganda is working with foreign cybercrime experts to train Ugandan police officers and establish equipment that will monitor cybercriminals.

Uganda’s Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura says they are building a cybercrime unit with the help of Americans.

Uganda police has budgeted three trillions for the establishment of the unit. Hundreds of Ugandans and Africans in general lose billions of money through hacking of victims mails.
