deadline issued for insurance companies

The Uganda Insurance regulatory Authority (IRA) has issued a deadline of up to September this year for all insurance companies that have been offering Both life and Non life insurance services to separate.

In the separation of such services, an insurance company which has been offering both life and Non life services must create a new company with new name, management, staff and even board of directors.

While as there over 75 licensed insurance companies six major insurance which have been offering both life and Non life insurance policies must separate the two services.

They include, Britam Insurance, United assurance company (UAP), Insurance Company of East Africa (ICEA), National Insurance Cooperation (NIC)), Jubilee Insurance and Gold Star insurance company.

According to the insurance regulatory authority publicist Nalunkuma Mariam, this requirement is aimed at growing the life insurance services in Uganda.
