A team of specialized doctors from Nottingham University Hospital and Social Workers will come to come to Uganda in June 2014 to treat and/ carry out surgery on polio survivors and those with post-polio syndrome at Mulago Hospital.
The NottinghamUniversityHospital doctors will also be able to assess and offer where possible lower limb assistive devices to polio survivors. The Nottingham doctors are targeting 800 clients according to the information officer of UNDP, Hajji Hamad Lubwama.
UNDP therefore asks the people to pass on this information to the target people. In related development UNAPD in conjunction with African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) will carry out free surgery for people with cleft lip, cleft lip palate and various deformities caused by burning.
