UPDF soldiers are now highly skilled and they can use any war weapon. They can fight in jungles, streets and in buildings, according to the director of the counter terrorism commission in Uganda, Col. Ssiza Bahwezi.
He says Uganda is ready to fight with Al Gaeda militants and Al Shabaab fighters. But terrorists operate within the community. Terrorism, according to US’s Col. Patrick Anderson, can be won through concerted efforts with the public.
Col. Ssiza says UPDF has a good record on human rights. He says holding human rights is an obligation for every soldier in the world.
Brigit Gerstenberg, the UN human rights commission representative to Uganda confirms that UPDF has a good record of observing human rights while fighting in Uganda. Ugandn soldiers, however, have reportedly violated human rights and killed thousands of people during their fightings in Somalia, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Libya, Central African Republic and Zimbabwe.
