Justice kanyeihamba and mp karuhanga want kavuma remved from office

MPs have hatched a plot to kick out Justice Steven Kavuma from the
office of acting chief justice and that of acting deputy chief
justice.

Addressing a press conference at parliament, Gerald Karuhanga who was
flanked by retired Supreme Court justice George Kanyeihamba revealed
the plot claiming that Kavuma is simply acting illegally in those
offices.

He said the members have worked on a petition seeking parliament to
order Kavuma out of that office suggesting that his occupation into
that is illegal.

He said that even the judicial service commission headed by justice
James Ogoola recently blocked his request for salary increment since
he is the acting ‘chief/deputy chief justice.
Kanyeihamba urged president Museveni to appoint the new CJH and deputy
CJ so that the judiciary can run smoothly; warning that anyone
deliberately violates the constitution commits treason.

However, KCCA minister Frank Kagyigi Tumwebaze in response blasted
Kanyeihamba saying he has no moral authority to question actions of
other judges who are doing their work.

He said he had also petitioned the Uganda Law Society president
seeking for answers why judges who give pro-government rulings are
always demonized.
