President Yoweri Museveni is consulting his counterparts in the EAC regional block to decide the fate of embattled EALA speaker Margret Zziwa.
The minister of state for East African Affairs Shem Baigeine told parliament chaired by deputy speaker Jacob Oulanya that the matter has been tabled before Museveni who is already talking to the presidents in East Africa to find a solution to the impasse.
He said that this matter touches on the EALA which is an independent assembly and that it has been taken to the president who is consulting the summit to find a solution.
Bageine said that whatever their decision will be, Uganda will remain in the speakership of EALA.
Zziwa is currently in trouble after MPs ganged up against her seeking her removal on allegations of incompetence, arrogance and abuse of office.
The motion to kick her out was served to the EALA speaker on 26/3/2014 and was tabled before the assembly on April 1st this year. However it was not discussed because its waiting to be on order paper for mps to have a debate on it.
ugandan members in EALA include Fred Mukasa Mbidde,Dorah Byamukama,Nusura Tiperu,Bernard Mulengani,Suzan Nakawuki, Dan Kidega ,Chris OpoK .Keneddy Sebalu and Margaret Ziwa.
