Members of parliament sitting on the parliamentary committee on education and sports chaired by mitiyana woman mp Sylvia Namabidde have asked government to withdraw its financial support to public secondary schools that charge high fees.
mps said that many schools such as budo ,Gombe secondary schools charge parents expensively yet they continue to receive funds from government .
Mps include Kamara Nizeyimana for Bufumbira County north, Joseph Sewungu kalungu west and Acayo Christine said that these schools are already developed and should not benefit from the capital development government gives them but such money should go towards building schools in areas which donot have good schools.
Mps said that schools like Namiliyango, kings collage Buddo and Gombe are developed and children go to these schools are coming from rich families limiting the poor the children for poor parents .
Meanwhile kalungu west Member of Parliament Josepeph Sewungu hit at the ministry of education for coming up with proposal to de-register private school to get quality control in schools .
Sewungu argues that the process will cost taxpayers alot of money to carry on the activity.
He blamed the ministry of education for giving the private schools licenses without first checking if they fulfill all the requirements needed in setting up a school.
