Taxi drivers strike enters day two

The violent taxi drivers’ strike in Kampala has entered day two. The strike prompted even President Museveni to intervene. While the president was on his way to statehouse, he made an impromptu stop at Namulanda on Entebbe road to address the striking drivers.

Museveni promised the striking drivers that he will address their grievances with Kampala Capital City Authority. The drivers told him that they are protesting the relocation of the Entebbe Stage from the Old Taxi Park to USAFI Taxi Park by Kampala Capital City Authority.

Public transport on Entebbe Road has remained paralyzed as the protest entered day two. The drivers further told Museveni that all taxis plying Entebbe route be transferred to the USAFITaxiPark or KCCA let them return to the old TaxiPark where they have been.
