A cabinet sitting yesterdday approved the appointment of members who sit on two national boards.
The boards include that of Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and that of the Students’ Loan Scheme.
Addressing the press at media center, information and national guidance Rose Namayanja Nsereko said the decision came after realizing that UNRA board had two vacant seats.
The seats fell vacant after expiry of the term of two board members. Cabinet therefore appointed ministry of works/transport permanent secretary Alex Bwangamoi Okello and Eng. Monica Azuba Ntege who is manager for facilities in Stanbic Bank.
She says the role of the board will be to manage the provisions and maintenance of the national roads in a more efficient and effective manner and render advisory services to government and other related matters.
She added that cabinet also named the chairperson of the national council for higher education Prof. Opuda Asibo as part of the board members of the newly formed Students’ Loan Scheme board.
Namayanja says with the formation of this board, this is going to mark the beginning of implementation of this scheme.
